Japan 2009, Day 5
We went to visit Hakodate’s morning market (Hakodate Asaichi) which is a short walking distance from our hotel. While visiting one of the shops, I asked the ojisan if he could recommend fresh sushi with reasonable price nearby, he kindly wrote down the name of the shop and pointed to the direction which we should walk to..
And so off we went.. on the way we saw these scenes
Market selling fresh seafood
Friendly staff who gamely posed for my cam :)
Icicles formed on the edges. These looks pretty but dangerous..
Cupcake anyone? lol..
We passed by some factories and saw these large icicles. Still no sign of the sushi restaurant.
After walking around for 1 hour or so, we could not find the place and people we asked did not know of it as well. In the end, we gave up.. :( And had to walk all the way back to the market.
While feeling disappointed and tired, we saw this grouchy snowman.. lol..
As we were feeling hungry by this time, we choose to have our early lunch at one of the restaurant next to the morning market.
After that we walked to the Hakodate station to catch our train to Onumakoen where the Onuma Quasi National Parkis is located
Sculpture outside the train station
On the way to Onumakoen! So exciting!
After 30 minutes train ride, the train pulls into Onumakoen station
How about some ice cream in the middle of winter? :D
The first thing we did was to go to the information centre next to the train station to get some maps. The Onuma Quasi National park is about 10 minutes walk
Giant Doraemon
After 10 minutes, we reached the entrance of the park. It’s nice, vast, white and pretty!
Animal footprints dotted the park
The walk is very relaxing and weather is just nice. Not too windy and it’s cloudy. Not too glaring as well
Crossing path. Looks like this is a busy junction.. lol.. These animal footprints make an interesting art :D
Look how thick is the snow??
Tractor with chain on its wheels
Frozen lake
The mount in the backdrop is the majestic dormant volcano, Mount Komagatake
After leaving the park, we walked back to the station and rewarded ourselves with ice cream while waiting for our train to go back to Hakodate :)
It’s 3.30PM, look how it is starting to get dark already?
The moon appeared to say Hi :)
On the way to dinner, we came across a supermarket and saw puffer fish!
